Back on the PNPT grind

With TCM's pretty generous BF/CM sale, I was able to spring for the PNPT training so that is back on. I'm 94% of the way through the PJPT course materials so I'll schedule the test for next weekend. Changed my mid-term goal from the OSCP to the CPTS as it's not only in my price range, but it's apparently a harder test and seems to be more prestigious among non-HR individuals.

Streaming

Since it turns out the PNPT voucher I got was just for the test and not the material with it, and I can't really do anything about it, I'm goint to set it aside until I can find a full time job on the industry. For now im going to pivot (heh) to running Hack the Box labs and see what I can do on my own. I know it's basically PJPT + OSINT and privilege escalation so I can work on those skills on my own.

That got me to thinking, why not stream myself doing the labs?

I know nothing about streaming and, while I've seen some youtube clips, I've never actually watched a live stream. This will be an interesting experience. I also don't have a computer good enough to run anything too crazy, but I did some research and last night I set up the t480 I use for ctf to be an "obs controller" so I can do the actual streaming on my legion 5. we'll see how this goes. For the for the overlay "scenes" I just made some up in canva based on a google search of what others are using.

PJPT

Studying for the PJPT has been going nicely. I'm hopoing to take it soon and move on to the PNPT. The OSINT part was nice, it's a bit of a hobby of mine on the side so it was cool to see that it is part of the course.

Bluesky

I recently joined bluesky and it's been a breath of fresh air that I didn't know I needed. I'd taken a break from social media for so long that it now feels strange to share everyday experiences. Just happened to catch someone talking about it in a comment on a Deviant Ollamh video.

So far I like that the culture has remained relatively non-toxic, though we'll see how long that lasts. I'm a big fan of the block lists and starter packs. Made getting started with the site easier.
